Determination of Student Location

Policy Statement

Northwest Career College (NCC) uses each student’s mailing address to determine Student Location. Students are generally expected to be located within the State of Nevada while attending NCC. However, students whose programs include virtual class sessions may be approved to complete eligible coursework and externship activities while residing outside Nevada, as permitted through NCC’s membership in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) and subject to applicable state-specific requirements.

Applicants

At the time of enrollment, NCC uses the mailing address provided by the student on their Application for Admission to determine their location. Prospective students who reside outside Nevada may enroll while living outside the state, but they must relocate to Nevada prior to beginning their program, unless they have been specifically approved to participate from another state. Prior to beginning their program, students relocating to Nevada must provide the Admissions Department with an in-state mailing address so their Student Location and student record can be updated accordingly.

Attending Students

Students are required to notify NCC of any relocation by submitting an update on the “My Information” page within the “My Profile” section of their student portal and providing their updated mailing address.

Students who relocate outside Nevada while enrolled must notify NCC so that their eligibility to continue their program from the new state can be evaluated. When NCC is notified that a student intends to relocate outside Nevada, NCC will conduct an Out-of-State Research Review for the student’s new state of residence. The review will include, as applicable:

  • The state’s process for handling complaints involving post-secondary educational institutions;
  • State requirements related to professional certification or licensure associated with the student’s program or intended employment; and
  • Applicable educational or program standards established by the state or relevant regulatory authority.

The results of this review will be documented in the student’s record and used to determine whether the student may continue their program while residing in the new state and whether any state-specific requirements may affect program completion or employment eligibility.

Students who are not approved to continue their program from outside Nevada must request a Leave of Absence if the relocation is temporary or withdraw from their program if the relocation is expected to be permanent.

This policy applies to all students participating in a program of study at Northwest Career College, including students enrolled in blended or distance-delivery coursework.
