Health Administration is a wide field of study but it can be broken down into three main areas: Health Services Management; Public Health Administration; Insurance & Risk Management/Actuarial Science.

Health services management is the area that is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a healthcare facility or system. They are in charge of planning, organizing, staffing and leading the various departments within a healthcare setting. This could include areas such as nursing, administration, dietary services, housekeeping and security.

 

Public Health Administration

 

Public Health Administration is concerned with protecting and improving the health of populations. They work to create healthy communities by implementing programs and policies that prevent disease and promote good health.

 

Insurance & Risk Management/Actuarial Science

 

Insurance & Risk Management/Actuarial Science deals with risk assessment and management in the healthcare industry. They develop strategies to minimize financial risks associated with providing healthcare services. This could include things like insurance plans, risk pooling and fraud prevention measures.
