Northwest Career College’s Medical Assisting Program in Las Vegas prepares students to enter into a great profession in the medical field.  As the health care industry continues to grow in Las Vegas and across the country, more qualifies, trained and certified medical assistants will be necessary to ensure quality care for the patients.  At Northwest Career College, we believe our graduates are on the forefront of the challenge and will strive to improve health care in Las Vegas and across the country.

Our program has been developed by physicians, nurses, and medical assistants, and as a result our students receive a unique an valuable perspective regarding the expectations of this wonderful profession.  With the diverse patient population in Las Vegas, our students are prepared to assist in all different medial specialties.  Many of our students eve go on to nursing programs with our Medical Assisting Program as a strong foundation.

Instruction is provided with a combination of classroom lectures, laboratory practicals, front office computer based training, and simulated medical back office proficiency exams.  The curriculum gives our students the academic and hands on training necessary to become an integral part of any medical office, surgical center, private practice, and in some cases, even a hospital setting.

Upon completion of the coursework students receive on the job training at an offsite medical facility in Las vegas.  During this externship students encounter real patients and use their acquired knowledge to perform various tasks such as taking a patients blood pressure, measuring pulse rates, preparing for physical examinations, and more.  The experience gained from both patient and doctor interaction on externship prove invaluable for students as they go on to find employment.  We encourage our students always to treat externship as an extended job interview and because of this we have seen many of our students gain employment at their externship sites.

After Successful completion of our Program, students receive a diploma qualifying them to take the Certified Medical Assisting Exam (CMA) offered through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).  Taking this examination is an important aspect in achieving professional success as a medical assistant.  Medical assistants who are certified have significantly increased employment and pay opportunities in Las Vegas which is why we highly encourage our students to take the exam by having the cost already paid for in their tuition.  In every program, our work as a school isn’t finished at graduation.  With our students our goal is always certification and job placement.
