Changes to ICD10

It’s that time again! This past year has certainly flown by, changes to ICD10 will be happening October 1, 2016. With the implementation of ICD10, we coders were given a year without any changes or updates to the ICD10 code set. In just a few short days, our reprieve is up!

In the ever evolving field of medical coders and billers it is necessary to stay current. Attending coding and billing seminars or webinars is an absolute necessity. Many webinars are now available which makes it much easier and certainly more cost effective. Before all the advances in technology, we were required to attend seminars for an entire weekend; most were held in larger cities which may have required driving and hotels. Webinars today are snippets, the presentation, in much smaller, shorter sessions are designed somewhat like the online Medical Billing and Coding Program at Northwest Career College.

In the Medical Billing and Coding program at Northwest, you are presented educational material in video or readable content, you choose when and how often you want to access or need to repeat it. Webinars are usually scheduled at a certain time, you pre-register and log in to your computer while the webinar is being presented.

Often, you can chat via email to ask questions or make comments with the “live” instructor. In the program at Northwest Career College you are scheduled for a three hour session once a week with classmates and your instructor, this provides you with in person one on one help if you need it. Your instructor also brings additional material and “real world” experience to the session. If a career in Medical Billing and Coding sounds like something you would be interested in, contact Northwest Career College today at 702-254-7577 to schedule your personal tour. I look forward to seeing you on campus!
